SIETAR Italia – part of the international network of SIETARs – is a non-profit cultural association for intercultural education, training and research. SI was founded on 19th January 2009 after 3 years of meetings, connecting with and building the network of Italian interculturalists. Today SI counts approximately 40 members. The ultimate aim of the society is to improve understanding among cultures and develop the members of the society professionally. The Association welcomes teachers, trainers, students, researchers who are involved in companies, institutions, schools or universities and have an interest in the discipline of intercultural studies. It is also open to people involved in intercultural conflict resolution or in promoting multiculturalism locally or internationally.
Anderson House are a founder-member of the association and Steve Franzoni is a fully paid-up member.
Peter Anderson was born in Britain and brought up in England and Italy by a French mother and an Irish father. He grew up trilingual and was faced with intercultural issues from a young age. He also speaks German. He has been teaching English in Bergamo since 1978 and owns Anderson House. He became interested in intercultural matters in 2005 and took the DITS course at LTS Bath.
Steve Franzoni was born in the United States from an English mother and an Italian father. He is bilingual and has been teaching English for Anderson House in Bergamo and Brescia since 2006. He became interested in intercultural studies in 2009.
